We are so proud that over seven years ago our GHMS Bulldog students and faculty started a partnership with our sister school in Uganda. In addition to monetary support and donations of goods, two years ago we had a team of eight teachers travel to Uganda to visit the primary and secondary schools to deliver supplies and collaborate with teachers. One of BBEL’s former students has opened his own school, Ubuntu Academy!
This year we are continuing to partner with our sister school students to promote education around the globe. Our campaign is “I am… because we are…” following the African philosophy of “Ubuntu”. Education allows for people to build a better world in their own communities and countries as well as make an impact on the world at large. Our goal is to support students by providing funds to help with student tuition, academic supplies, and teacher pay.
How can I help?
We are continuing our efforts this year with another fundraising walk. The walk represents how far some of the students in Uganda walk each way, to and from school every day. Students who would like to participate will raise any amount of funds, choose where they would like to see their funds distributed, and walk approximately two and a half miles on school property, at the beginning of the school day on Friday, August 15th.
